If you’re overseas and have money to send home or you’re expecting a payment from someone in another country, the overseas bank will need a few details before the payment can be made.

Payments are to be sent to:

SWIFT Code: TSBANZ22
TSB
(Your) branch name
(Your) branch address
New Zealand

To credit TSB account:

Account name (as it appears on your statement)
Account number (15-39XX-XXXXXXX-XX)

If possible, please also have your TSB account number placed into the reference field of the transfer to assist TSB.

A few things to note:

  • All payments need to be remitted with the payer's full name and physical address – no initials or PO Box numbers will be accepted. This is a requirement for TSB to comply with the New Zealand AML and CFT legislation.
  • The sender may need to go into their bank to initiate the payment as some overseas banks’ internet banking systems have trouble processing the above type of instructions.
  • Overseas banks may require an IBAN, ABA number, Sort Code or a BSB from you. New Zealand does not use any of these. The TSB address and/or SWIFT code above should be sufficient to send the payment.
  • IBANs are similar to your full account number and are not used in New Zealand. However if an IBAN is required, the IBAN field can be loaded as TSB1539XX-XXXXXXX-XX.
  • The New Zealand equivalent of an ABA/Sort Code/BSB is LCC (Local Clearing Code), which is the beneficiary bank and branch number. ABAs, Sort Codes and BSBs are similar to the start of your account number 15-39XX.
  • Other banks or third parties may charge or deduct commission, fees or other transfer charges in addition to the fee charged when the payment is sent. Any charges will be deducted from the amount received and will be your responsibility.

If the overseas bank has trouble with these instructions, please advise them to contact their bank’s international department for further clarification.
